It started with a feeling from childhood
Hairloom began with something personal: the quiet moments of getting ready, and the feeling of growing from the girl I once was into the woman I was becoming. I wanted to know whether a brand could hold that feeling, the pride of who you have become and the wonder you carried as a child.
That idea became the emotional core of the maison. In the brand book’s words, Hairloom exists “for the woman who carries both the pride of who she has become and the wonder of the girl she once was.”

02
Treating hair adornment as fine jewellery
Hair adornment is usually treated as an accessory. I saw room for something more intimate and elevated: a category at the intersection of jewellery, product design, cultural storytelling and ritual.
The concept also answers a wider shift towards modern heirlooms: pieces that are meaningful, wearable and identity-driven, designed to be worn rather than stored. Hairloom positions itself not as an accessory brand, but as a luxury hair adornment maison.
03
The strategic foundation
Before any visuals, I defined what the brand stands for and who it is for. These are the foundations from the brand book.
- Positioning
- The first luxury maison in the world to honour hair with the artistry of fine jewellery.
- Audience
- A woman who adorns herself not to be seen, but to honour her own becoming, and who values meaningful, personal pieces over mass production.
- Emotional territory
- Self-reverence: subtle, inward, luminous. The moment a woman sees herself clearly.
- Proposition
- Legacy Hair Jewelry™: sculptural pieces that elevate hair adornment into the realm of fine jewellery, with personalisation that treats identity as sacred.
- Vision
- To become the world’s leading house for hair adornment, a sculptural universe of artistry, memory and poetic femininity.
- Mission
- To craft sculptural heirlooms that honour a woman’s most meaningful moments, and accompany her as she steps into the woman she has been growing toward.
- Archetypes
- The Lover (emotional, intimate, sensory) with the Creator (artistic, devoted to craft).
- Values
- Legacy
- Craftsmanship
- Intimacy
- Ritual
- Personalisation
- Transparency
- Exclusivity
- Cultural reverence
- Self-reverence
04
The story: self-reverence and modern heritage
“A love letter to the heritage you are creating, crafted from your most beautiful moments.”
Hairloom Maison brand essence
The brand’s worldview is that the most meaningful parts of life live in quiet rituals: brushing your hair before stepping into a new chapter, the stillness before a celebration. They look small, but they are where identity settles and where heritage begins.
Self-reverence is not a performance. It is the moment a woman realises she has grown into someone her younger self would admire. Every piece is meant to be a soft witness to that becoming.

05
The visual world: Nordic refined opulence
The design language is sculptural purity: forms that feel inevitable, effortless and quietly powerful, shaped with Nordic restraint and the warmth of fine jewellery.
- Soft volumeCurves that feel like breath; fullness without heaviness.
- Purity of lineClean, uninterrupted silhouettes.
- Sculptural restraintNothing added that does not serve beauty.
- Nordic claritySimplicity, calm and light.
- Golden warmthMetal treated as emotion: soft, luminous, intimate.
- The Kielo influenceA cascading softness, used as movement rather than motif.
Symbols: the Kielo and the swan
The Kielo, lily of the valley and Finland’s national flower, is the soul of the maison: purity, quiet strength, femininity and transformation. Its cascading silhouette shapes the curves and volumes of the pieces. The swan is the totem animal, moving with the same sculptural grace.

A gemstone palette drawn from lived experience
Each colourway is a fragment of a place that shaped my life, and a symbol of global womanhood.
- Deep green
Nordic forests - Warm amber
Brazilian sunsets - Oceanic blue
Australian coasts - Soft neutral
Scandinavian light - Earth tones
Global landscapes
Typography in the brand book pairs Cormorant Garamond with a script accent, keeping the tone literary and intimate.
06
The product: the Kielo French pin
Hair adornment as legacy.
One hero piece carries and holds the stories of her life: the Kielo, Finland’s national flower, cascading over a single sculptural form. A modern heirloom: designed to be worn, hold memories and to accompany the ritual of getting ready.
The strategy translated into one hero product: a sculptural French pin. Each piece is a study in purity, a single uninterrupted form where shape, weight and intention matter as much as decoration.
Form follows the brand codes (Kielo curves, soft volume, golden warmth), function follows the ritual of getting ready, and meaning comes from personalisation: a piece that feels uniquely yours and can be passed on.

How I used AI in the process
Hairloom is a concept, so there was no product to photograph. I used AI image and video tools to explore and visualise the brand: testing moods, colourways, forms and scenes, and turning the brand book’s ideas into images and short films.
AI was a tool for making ideas visible, not a replacement for them. The concept, strategy, story, brand codes and the choices about what fits the brand and what does not were my work. Being specific about the feeling, the symbols and the palette is what made the generated visuals usable.
08
Outcome and what I learned
The result is a fully developed brand concept: a complete, consistent brand world, documented and visualised, ready to be taken further.
Social content: Hairloom Philosophies

What came out of it
- A 14-page brand book: essence, worldview, foundations, values, archetypes, symbols, design language and product philosophy
- A defined category and proposition: Legacy Hair Jewelry™
- A product concept: sculptural French pins in gemstone colourways
- Three short films and a social content series
What I learned
Once the brand codes were clear (self-reverence, the Kielo, Nordic refined opulence), every later decision had something to be measured against, from a gemstone colour to a single line of copy. I also learned to use AI deliberately: the clearer the strategy, the better the visuals.
